Karl holds a BS degree in Engineering from Ohio University; an MBA degree from Auburn University and has more than 25 years’ experience in the engineering world. Karl is an SAE aerospace committee chairman, and was a former director of the National Association of Relay Manufacturers (NARM). Karl's experience before joining the TE team included positions with Eaton Aerospace and Hartman Electrical Manufacturing.
What is your current position?
I am the Senior Manager, Advanced Systems Architecture for TE's Global Aerospace, Defense and Marine division.
What do you most enjoy about the work you do?
It is very satisfying to see a novel thought or inspiration come to fruition through product design and then be valued by our customers and industry. In ADM we have the added harsh environmental size/weight challenges that makes success all the more rewarding for our engineers.
What are your areas of Expertise?
I am an expert in high current MIL/AERO power distribution, electrical relays and power contactors, electronics circuit protection, remote control circuit breakers, HVDC relays, sensors and time delays, and solid state devices.
What are your industry affiliations and organizations?
I am a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
What was the last book you read?
For business, The Wide Lens by Ron Adner. Ron was a guest speaker at the last TE TECH CON in Baltimore. The book provides a good insight on innovation including study of environmental factors, competitive landscape and formulating a winning product strategy.
For fun I enjoy reading anything that Randy Wayne White puts to paper. His Doc Ford novels are always an excellent read. The main character is a marine biologist, ex CIA agent, and general crime solver. The novels are set on FL west coast around Sanibel Island. I enjoy the characters that White develops and having lived in Sarasota prior to joining TE a can relate to the scenery, sport fishing and the never ending shady locals.
