A Bluetooth antenna is a wireless communication standard used for that transmitting or receiving short-range radio waves to exchange data between devices. Devices that use Bluetooth are often smaller due to the low power demands of the technology as well as the short range of transmission, usually tens of meters. Examples of Bluetooth devices include smartphones, tablet, laptops, and wireless headphones. Bluetooth can also be used in more unusual applications such as drive-thru restaurants for meal preparation of registered users.
Bluetooth antennas can be incorporated into a device with either an internal or embedded antenna, or with custom Laser Direct Structuring (LDS) antenna technology that allows the antenna to be printed onto the frame or components within a device. Alternatively, external antennas allow for the antenna to be brought outside of the device. This improves performance either with a larger antenna or by moving away from the integrated circuitry and components within a device. It is important to use a Bluetooth antenna that is properly designed and accurately placed to deliver optimal performance, as the size and shape of the antenna can affect the range and quality of the Bluetooth connection.
