TE Connectivity delivers high power in a small package with new aluminum nitride thin film precision resistors
New RA73 series supports industry trend toward miniaturization with high power-to-size ratio.

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity and sensors, has introduced new RA73 series aluminum nitride thin film precision resistors to save space and reduce overall device weight in industrial applications, addressing the need for miniaturized solutions on increasingly compact circuit boards.
With their high power-to-size ratio, the new aluminum nitride thin film precision resistors deliver on power performance while freeing up valuable space on printed circuit boards (PCBs) for other capabilities. This makes them suitable for use in a variety of applications with complex board designs and high power requirements, including automation controllers, robotics, outdoor LED lighting, power supplies, power switching and braking systems.
“The new RA73 resistors combine power and precision in one tiny package,” said Jesus Jimenez Santos, global product manager for TE. “Manufacturers increasingly demand smaller solutions that do not compromise on performance, and this latest advancement in thin film technology reflects that expectation.”

Power-to-size ratio — With up to 1W of power available, the new precision film resistors deliver a significant amount of power while still providing a low profile.
High thermal conductivity — The new precision film resistors are made with an aluminum nitride substrate for greater thermal conductivity and improved dissipation of power.
Precision — With a temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) down to 25ppm / °C and resistance tolerances down to 0.1%, the RA73 resistors deliver the high level accuracy expected from thin film technology. The standard values are within the E96 and E24 value grids.
