BERWYN, Pa., Jan. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Tyco Electronics Ltd. (NYSE: TEL) today announced that the company has appointed Charles (Chuck) P. Dougherty as President of its Communications & Industrial Solutions (CIS) business unit, reporting to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tom Lynch. Dougherty succeeds Minoru (Mooch) Okamoto who has announced his intention to retire. Okamoto will assist with the CIS leadership transition and serve as Senior Advisor to the CEO.
Dougherty rejoins Tyco Electronics from Harris Corporation, where he recently completed the integration of the Wireless Systems business sold by Tyco Electronics to Harris in May 2009. He joined Tyco Electronics in 2006 as President of the Wireless Systems business. Prior to that, he worked 25 years for Motorola as Vice President and General Manager of the Voice & Data Solutions Group for Motorola's Connected Home Solutions (CHS) business. At Motorola, he also served as Vice President and General Manager of Transmission Networks Systems, General Manager for North American VoIP, and Vice President of Marketing for Motorola Broadband's Transmission Network Systems business unit.
