As the brains that help to control electronics, semiconductors have helped to transform society in a countless number of ways. The televisions that entertain us, smart phones that connect us, medical devices that treat us, vehicles that transport us, appliances that feed us, etc. - virtually all of the devices that we rely on in our day-to-day lives are made possible by semiconductors. Due to their importance and critical functionality, semiconductors have become of vital importance for enabling on-going innovations and their availability can even impact entire industries. Because of this, it’s no wonder why there is a major push to increase semiconductor manufacturing. However, semiconductors cannot be produced without sensors. Due to the delicate nature of semiconductor manufacturing, it involves the use of a number of gases that must be ultra-pure. Even a single atom can make a difference in production. Sensors perform the critical monitoring of the pressure, temperature and force of those gases and without them, semiconductor production wouldn’t be possible. From our work with a number of leading semiconductor companies, TE’s subject matter experts are well-versed on the industry and can serve as a key resource on the topic.
