TE Connectivity to expand energy industry production site in Juárez, Mexico

Increased production capabilities, job creation and faster delivery will help progress global trend toward renewable energy sources

TE Connectivity, a global industrial technology leader, is expanding its energy industry production site in Juárez, Mexico. The 127,000-square-foot (11,798-square-meter) site will gain an additional connected building of 103,000 square feet (9,569 square-meters) by April 2022, add 200+ jobs in the next years, and double its current manufacturing capacity to meet the demands for products to support the growth of renewable energy in the Americas.

TE’s facility in Juárez currently manufactures medium voltage joints and terminations, switchgear products, overhead and underground connectors and solar solutions products, all of which enable a more sustainable and reliable power grid. The added capacity will facilitate a major increase in solar product production.

TE Energy Vice President and General Manager for the Americas Bijal Thakkar commented, “Demand is rapidly increasing for solar products in North America, as energy consumers demand more sustainable options. The newly expanded facility will put Juárez and TE at the heart of the renewables trend.”

Jesus Gerardo Guzman, TE Energy Senior Manager of Operations for the Juárez factory, recently hosted several business leaders in Juárez for a "first stone" ceremony marking the beginning of construction, including:

  • Juan Ivan Alvarez, Director of American Industries, and Luis Lara Cruz, Executive board member of American Industries. A Mexican company helping over 200 international companies start up and grow their manufacturing and distribution operations in Mexico since 1976.
  • Saul Chavez, Director of Construction with Abitat Construction, a general contractor for industrial and commercial projects for the private sector in Mexico.
  • Fabiola Luna Ávila, president of Index Juárez, the National Index Council that is the leading organization for the export manufacturing industry with a membership in which the top one thousand of the main advanced manufacturing companies in Mexico participate.

“I’m very happy to see this project come to life! This expansion will significantly consolidate our presence as a leader in the North American energy industry, allowing us to achieve and sustain world-class service levels. I’m also very happy about what this represents locally – it will bring more jobs and development opportunities to our community.” Gerardo said.

"At Index Juárez, we are very pleased to participate in events like this, where the first stone is placed for projects that generate jobs in the city and that give certainty to the growth of the economy. Considering the complexity of 2020 with the pandemic, generating so many jobs in the short term is very good news for the city, since indirect employment will also be generated in other productive sectors locally," Luna said.

“For American Industries, it is an honor to have TE Connectivity as one of its clients in the field of Industrial Real Estate in the city, contributing our grain of sand so that this expansion project can be carried out successfully and benefit the city, local families, and the many new jobs that will be generated for future TE Connectivity employees,” Alvarez said.
