Overview
Maximize grid reliability and safety with advanced precision voltage detection.

The TE Connectivity (TE) Kries CAPDIS-Sx+ R4.5 is an integrated voltage testing system designed to detect the absence of voltage in medium-voltage distribution networks ranging from 1 to 52 kV.

It is available in two versions - CAPDIS S1+ R4.5 and CAPDIS S2+ R4.5 with output relays. Engineered for new or retrofit installations, the CAPDIS Sx+ series addresses the need for precise voltage monitoring, enhanced safety, and compliance with stringent industry standards.

The CAPDIS Sx+ R4.5 features integrated three-phase continuous indication, to provide precise voltage detection. Its maintenance-free design includes self-monitoring capabilities, eliminating the need for periodic retesting.

All of this helps achieve the highest levels of safety and precision in voltage monitoring operations, which eliminates the need for hot sticks and their associated risks.

FAQ

Question: What is a CAPDIS Voltage Detection and Indication system?

Answer: The CAPDIS-Sx line are advanced devices that are designed to detect and indicate the presence of voltage in electrical installations, to enhance safety and reliability. The CAPDIS-Sx_55 (R5) generation also provides partial discharge indication.

Question: How does the CAPDIS R4.5 differ from the R5?

Answer: The main difference between the CAPDIS R4.5 and R5 generations is that the R5 has an additional partial discharge indication function, providing an early warning of insulation damage. Also, the response time response time of the R5 S2 version relay is also improved – now ≤0.2s on the R5 S2 compared with ≤1s on the R4.5 S2.

Question: How does the CAPDIS S1 differ from the S2?

Answer: The CAPDIS S2 includes 2 output relays in addition to the standard voltage detection and indication features, allowing it to interface with other control systems like IKI-Line for directional fault current indication or remote communication with SCADA systems.

Question: How can operators be sure that CAPDIS devices are working properly?

Answer: All CAPDIS devices have a test button which can be pushed at any time. When the indicator shows that the device is working properly, the operator can trust that the voltage detection information is accurate.

Question: Is there a function to detect broken leads?

Answer: CAPDIS devices can detect if the leads which connect them with the capacitive divider C1 are broken. This is an additional safety feature available on all four versions (R4.5 S and S2, and R5 S1 and S2).
