These versatile contacts can be mounted on a single footprint so the customer can swap in a new size easily when a design change is needed.
A 360-degree view of our spring fingers – also known as shield fingers, grounding fingers, or universal contacts.
TE Connectivity offers a wide selection of scalable spring fingers as well as a complete family of spring fingers in a variety of styles and sizes. For each type of spring finger, TE Connectivity stands out with advanced automated production facilities which enable stability, reliability and excellence.
Our innovative scalable family of spring fingers is available in heights from 1.0mm to 3.8mm. All these types can be mounted onto one single footprint, so the product can be easily swapped when the design change is required.
Let’s take a close look at a scalable spring finger.
While TE’s portfolio of spring fingers is the largest in the market, we are adding new side-protected scalable spring fingers to address common customer issues around problems that occur when large quantities of spring fingers are used.
The new, enhanced sidewall design prevents springs from being tangled by operator gloves and avoids deflection during PCB transfer.
All our spring fingers require very limited space on a printed circuit board and accommodate soldering as well as pick and place using standard equipment.
With the launch of spring fingers across a variety of industries, we are ready to help you to reduce design cost and accelerate time to market.

Q: Why would I use a pre-loaded spring finger in an application?
A: A pre-loaded spring finger allows for the same amount of force with a smaller compression and provides a stable electrical contact with minimal deflection. These features are useful for applications with limited available height.
Q: Which style of spring finger is best for my application?
A: Spring fingers are typically some of the last pieces added to a board. The type used depends upon the height and space left on the board, but the decision is typically based on your design needs.
