Under the Italian Decree to implement 2002/96/EC Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive which came into force on August 13th 2005, for equipment that you buy from TE after December 31st 2010, TE is required to provide arrangements for the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of WEEE that your new purchase replaces, on a one-for-one, like-for-like basis. This is providing the weight of the old equipment is less than double that of the new purchase. The old equipment that your new purchase from TE replaces is referred to as Historic WEEE.

Under the Decree, TE is also required to provide arrangements for the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of any new electrical and electronic equipment that you buy from TE after December 31st 2010, when that new equipment eventually becomes waste. This is referred to as New WEEE.
