Controlled Reception Pattern Antennas (CRPAs)
Four (4) element or compact seven (7) wideband antenna elements designed to receive GPS and GNSS signals.

TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity and sensors, has officially released four-element and compact seven-element controlled reception pattern antennas (CRPAs) for more reliable connectivity within the Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and Global Navigational Satellite Systems (GNSS).
Defense airborne and ground vehicle platforms rely increasingly on GPS and GNSS to retain position, navigation and timing accuracy when engaged in hostile environments. Satellite signals can be relatively weak and reception is highly susceptible to interference. One solution is CRPAs, which can help mitigate the impact of interference on GNSS connectivity when operated with compatible antenna electronics. TE’s four-element and compact seven-element CRPAs help provide more consistent reception coverage to aerial and ground defense transports.
“TE’s CRPAs help bring safety and accuracy to aircraft, ground and unmanned vehicles that rely on GPS or GNSS to find secure positioning while under severe conditions,” said Cathy Lehman, product manager of Aerospace, Defense & Marine at TE Connectivity. “By reducing the risk of interference in radio transmission signals reaching GPS, TE helps bring protection and consistency to defense applications.”
TE’s four-element and compact seven-element CRPA antennas are condensed and light to support the needs of size, weight, and power (SWaP) constrained platforms. Each antenna is built with a compact array of wideband antenna elements that supports GPS (M-Code compatible), GALILEO and COMPASS signals. These antenna elements are each quadrature fed at four points for right hand circular polarization (RHCP) reception. In comparison to traditional “turnstile”-fed elements, this four-point feeding method supports more consistent reception coverage while reducing performance variation.
