The future of vehicles of all types is Autonomy and it is evolving steadily from its introduction at Level 0 (basic features like lane departure warnings, etc.), to its ultimate realization at Level 5 (robot taxis, etc.). While the technology is complex, the benefits are overwhelming. Autonomy can help to improve safety by reducing accidents, improve the environment by reducing fuel waste from unnecessary braking and acceleration, and productivity by overcoming the lack or shortage of qualified operators. OEMs of passenger vehicles, agricultural equipment, and construction equipment are all advancing their autonomous functionality and TE’s subject matter experts are with them virtually every step of the way, helping them to overcome engineering challenges associated with data connectivity, sensing and more.
