A number of automotive megatrends – including E-mobility/Electrification, Advanced Vehicular Data Connectivity, and Software-Defined Vehicles – as well as societal megatrends – such as the growth of megacities and the evolution of smart cities - have converged to spark and enable another trend – Mobility as a Service (Maas). While citizens own nearly 1.5 billion cars, in reality, those vehicles are operated sporadically - generally only 5% of the time. In areas like megacities where it makes sense to reduce the volume of cars and increase their utilization, MaaS is emerging as a more viable option. Whether it’s simple ride sharing as is available today, or science-fiction-like Robo Taxis and Mobility Pods that are predicted for the future, mobility is evolving rapidly and will look drastically different in the years to come. As authorities on the Transportation industry, TE’s subject matter experts can provide rich insight into this evolution in mobility.
