With vehicles increasingly becoming not only more electrified, but also more software-enabled, making them akin to computers on wheels, many of the modern functions that are improving safety, performance, sustainability, and even comfort are being enabled through advanced sensors. In electric vehicles, sensors are key components of the powertrain, monitoring and managing the e-motor and the battery to help to reduce charging time and improve range. They are also critical to advanced e-braking and e-steering systems that are improving response time and control. And they are even helping to improve vehicle reliability and uptime, which for commercial transportation operators can mean the difference between profit and losses. As vehicles become more autonomous, more sophisticated, and overall, more advanced, sensors are at the foreground of virtually every innovation, providing the information that is needed to enable next-generation functionality. As one of the world’s largest sensor manufacturers, TE is working with OEMs to utilize sensors to help to create vehicles of the future and our subject matter experts can provide valuable insight into how the industry operates today and will in the future.
