Neckartenzlingen, Germany – July 9, 2018. Five students from the University of Stuttgart were delighted to receive the Richard Hirschmann Prize on 5 July for their outstanding achievements. The ceremonial presentation of the award certificates to the winners was held at the Institute of Telecommunications (INÜ) at the University of Stuttgart.

 

Four of the award winners are enrolled in a course in electrical engineering and information technology at the University of Stuttgart. They include Maximilian Bader, Sven Ebeling and Kathrin Ziehn who are studying for their bachelor’s degree, while Marvin Geiselhart is completing his master’s degree. Kathrin Land already has a master’s degree from the Institute of Industrial Automation and Software Engineering (IAS) at the University of Stuttgart. She is currently continuing her scientific work with a doctorate at the Institute of Automation and Information Systems at the Technical University of Munich (TUM).

 

 

After a congratulatory speech for each award, each prize winner was presented the Richard-Hirschmann Prize award certificates by Professor Jan Hesselbarth, chairman of the Foundation Board and director of the Institute of High Frequency Technology, and Professor Stephan ten Brink, member of the Foundation Board and director of the Institute of Telecommunications. Also presenting the awards were Thomas Falz, Vice President and General Manager, Wireless, TE Connectivity, Dr Ning Yan Zhu, private lecturer at the Institute of High Frequency Technology, and Wolfgang Schenk, managing director of Industrial Networking at Hirschmann Automation and Control GmbH.

 

 

“The research projects of the award winners illustrate how to develop future technologies with innovative thinking and hard work,” said Thomas Falz, Vice President and General Manager, Wireless, TE Connectivity. “Together with the Richard Hirschmann Foundation, we are pleased to be able to support young scientists in pioneering research disciplines, such as communication and high frequency technology.”

Together with the University of Stuttgart and the Richard Hirschmann Foundation, Hirschmann Car Communication GmbH, now part of TE Connectivity, has been awarding the Richard Hirschmann Prize to outstanding students for more than ten years. The foundation is run by the Institute of High Frequency Technology at the University of Stuttgart. Since 1969, it has been providing financial support to scientists and engineers during their education so they can concentrate on their studies and research work.
