TE Connectivity's Automotive Wireless Team participated with the HIRSCHMANN MOBILITY HS3000 series asset tracker in the German Telematics Award 2019 and won the Innovation Award. The Innovation Award honors companies that set milestones in the future of telematics with their technologies and solutions.

With the HIRSCHMANN MOBILITY Asset Tracker, we have developed a solution that enables seamless monitoring of freight along the entire supply chain - from loading to the last mile along the route. The asset tracking solutions fill digital information gaps between service providers, fleet management, shipping, temperature documentation and many other freight traffic interfaces. Unique are the scalability of the functionalities and the longevity of the Asset Tracker with over 7 years.

Numerous features of the Asset Tracker that do not feature comparable technologies have led to the jury's decision. Development, testing and validation are carried out according to automotive standards, the connection to telematics applications takes place via an API interface. The Asset Tracker has a BLE interface that can be connected to up to 36 sensors. In order to withstand the harsh operating conditions, the system was designed, validated and implemented according to protection class IP6k9k.

"We are very pleased that our Asset Tracking solutions have been awarded the Innovation Prize. It is proof of the excellent work of our team and the importance of the solutions for the market," says Heinz-Hermann Tiben, Director Product Line Commercial Vehicles & M2M at TE Connectivity.

TE Connectivity wins German Telematics Award

About the German Telematics Award:

The German Telematics Award has been awarded by ETM Verlag since 2015 and honours companies in several categories, including tracking, vehicle technology, transport management, etc. For users, this award creates transparency in a market that is confusing due to the wide range of products on offer.

The application procedure for the German Telematics Award consists of 2 stages. In the first stage, the telematics providers must complete a catalogue of criteria specific to each category, which has been developed by the “Steinbeis-Transferzentrum Telematik (STZ)” under the leadership of Professor Dudek and approved by the jury. The same applies to the evaluation system and the weighting factors for the individual functions and properties in the respective categories. The three best solutions in each category will be nominated for the German Telematics Award 2020 at the end of this first phase.

In stage 2, a "hands-on" evaluation of individual functions as well as the presentation of information and the operability of the systems is carried out. For the evaluation of more complex functions and system features, for example a connection to a transport management system, the STZ conducts structured interviews with one user of each system, so-called reference customers.

The jury of experts is made up of members: Prof. Dr. Heinz-Leo Dudek (DHBW Ravensburg), Stephan Feitzelmayer (SF Telematik), Martin Trümper (Dekra), Andreas Schmidt (BGL), Holger Bach (ADAC), Ralf Johanning (TeleTraffic), Carsten Nallinger (ETM) and Johannes-Nikolaus Nießen (P3 Group).
