Case Study
From prototype to production
Mine Mobility took EV prototypes to mass production faster with TE’s technical support, samples, and connector portfolio.
Background
Energy Absolute Public Company Limited (EA) is a Thai-listed company that is committed to growing its renewable energy business. The company set up a subsidiary, Mine Mobility Research Co., LTD, in 2017 to pursue the development of both low voltage (LV) and high voltage (HV) electric cars for the Thai market.

The Opportunity
With a goal of “Mission No Emission,” Mine Mobility aims to offer environmentally friendly, safe, and high quality transportation to Thai residents. That is especially critical in large cities like Bangkok, which has more than eight million residents and is home to 13% of the country’s population. Source: World Population Review. Large cities are turning to EV vehicles to offer sustainable solutions that eliminate use of fossil fuels and improve air quality for city residents. Fast charging also enables residents to charge vehicles on busy city streets, improving accessibility.
The Challenge
As a new startup and a new car manufacturer, Mine Mobility needed to find a technical partner that could help the company move from prototype to production. Specifically, Mine Mobility needed to source high quality LV and HV connectors for their EV cars’ electronic control units and junction boxes that could support power distribution solutions.
The Solution
Mine Mobility selected TE Connectivity as its partner, because TE provided technical advice and support, product samples for trials, and the diverse connector portfolio that the EV startup needed its EV transportation line.
TE is providing Mine Mobility with both LV and HV connectors for its EV needs. Mine Mobility is using the following solutions for its EVs:
Result
Mine Mobility demonstrated three prototype vehicles at the Bangkok International Motor Show 2018, including a City EV Concept, a Sport EV Concept, and MPV EV Concept, after a year of R&D. All three vehicles can be 80% powered in just 15 to 20 minutes using a DC Quick Charger. The parent company is setting up AC and DC charging stations around the country, ensuring Thai residents will be able to access power when and where they need it on their daily journeys.
Mine Mobility is also developing an EV Ferry, with a goal of making mass transit more sustainable.
