N Series RF Connectors

Our N connector (also called type-N connector) is a medium-sized coaxial RF connector that is threaded and waterproof and is used to join coaxial cables to transmit high frequency signals. Most N connectors can carry frequencies up to 11 GHz, with recent designs that can carry up to 18 GHz. The male connector is hand-tightened, with an air gap between the center and outer conductors. Some versions include a hex nut. The coupling has an 5/8-24 UNEF thread. The N connector’s average power rating is is determined by overheating of the center contact that is a result of resistive insertion loss, while its peak power rating is determined by the voltage breakdown of the air near the center pin. N connectors are known for their rugged construction and are made from high quality materials like brass and nickel. Their threaded outer sleeve provides a secure connection that can handle harsh vibrations and environments. The N connector follows military standard MIL-STD-348 and comes in 50 ohm and 75 ohm versions. The N connector is widely used in the radio, television, and data communication fields. The 50 ohm N connector is commonly used in the infrastructure or wireless data, landline phones, paging, and cellular systems. The 75 ohm N connector is commonly used in the infrastructure of cable TV systems.
