SMA RF Connectors

Our SMA RF connector is a semi-precision RF connector that is designed for coaxial cables that have a screw-type coupling mechanism, which minimizes reflections and attenuation because it ensures uniform contact. One of the most used RF connectors, the SMA (SubMiniature version A) connector is commonly used in telecommunications, wireless communications, and test and measurement applications. It operates up to 18 GHz and has a 50 Ω impedance, for use in high-speed data transfer applications. It is made of brass or stainless steel and has a ¼-36 threaded coupling, allowing for high performance in a compact design. The SMA connector is available in a range of versions, including straight and right-angle, and bulkhead and panel mount. It is compatible with a wide variety of coaxial cables, including flexible and semi-rigid cables. The SMA connector uses a PTFE dielectric, which contacts along the mating plane, and it is rated for up to 500 mating cycles. It is necessary to properly torque the connector when making the connection to achieve 500 mating cycles. SMA RF connectors are commonly used in microwave systems, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, USB software-defined radio dongles, handheld radio, mobile telephone antennas, and radio astronomy applications.
