Overview
Improve grid uptime by quickly and efficiently locating the source of the fault in your overhead distribution lines.

The TE Connectivity (TE) Kries IKI-Overhead (IKI-OH) fault current indicators are designed for overhead distribution lines from 1 to 36 kV, and from 20 - 960 mm² and #4 - 1750 kcmil cable sizes. They are engineered to monitor fault conditions such as short circuits, temporary disruptions and ground faults on overhead lines, helping grid operators to quickly restore power after unplanned outages.

IKI-OH is tested according to IEEE-495, over operating temperatures from -30°C to 75°C (-22°F to 167°F).

IKI-OH can be installed on your overhead distribution grid, without de-energizing the circuit to be monitored. The IKI-OH can be quickly and easily installed using standards tools typically available on a bucket truck. The IKI-OH helps detect various types of fault conditions, helping grid operators to quickly restore power to customers effected by an unplanned outage.

Conditions like vegetation strikes, or wildlife intrusion can be detected minimizing the impact on customers and saving labor costs by speeding up the location of the outage source. With the IKI-OH-R2.5 remote reporting feature, real time conditions detected on the grid can be reported back to a centralized distribution control center giving better awareness and further reducing SAIDI (System Average Interruption Duration Index) impacts of unplanned fault conditions.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Can IKI-OH be installed without special tools?

Answer: Yes, IKI-OH can be installed with tools already present in a typical bucket truck.

Question: Is IKI-OH able to report fault status to an integrating SCADA system?
Answer: Yes, IKI-OH-R2.5 can communicate fault status over the cell network (4G).

Question:  Is there an indication of status on IKI-OH itself?
Answer: Yes, IKI-OH displays a setected fault condition by flashing lights (LED's).

Question:  What is the voltage range for IKI-OH?
Answer: IKI-OH can serve overhead distribution circuits between 1 - 36 kV.

Question:  Does IKI-OH require any maintenance?
Answer: No, over the lifetime of the battery IKI-OH requires no maintenance.
