Robust Compact Compression Load Cell with Exceptional Value
Optimized for embedded force sensing applications from disposable medical devices to durable appliances and exercise equipment. The FX29 allows design flexibility with mV, amplified, and digital output options. The FX29 incorporates the high reliability Microfused technology and is offered in ranges from 10lbf to 200lbf (50N to 1000N). Microfused technology provides excellent span and zero stability, outstanding cycle life, superior resolution, high over-range capabilities, and an unamplified span sensitivity of 20mV/V. The FX29 utilizes a two-piece construction of stainless steel materials. The combination of a metal injection molded flexure and micro miniaturized MEMS strain gauges allows flexibility of force range options for a lower cost sensor. These improvements over previous load cell designs give the FX29 more precise dimensional control and better performance.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- Will the release of FX29 obsolete the FX19 load cell?
The FX29 series will become the standard offering over the FX19 series. We will continue to manufacture custom FX19's where the customers do not want to change.
- What are the possible maximum and minimum force ranges if the size is maintained?
TE has tooling to cover force ranges from 10 to 100 LB. The highest can be 200 LB, yet requires speciality tooling. The lower force range down to 1 LB, requires secondary machining.
- Why is SPI output not offered?
It is not offered because the printed circuit board (PCB) does not have enough space to add one more wire. Most customers can use I2C instead of SPI when considering digital output signals.
- Do we offer a non-magnetic material option for MRI applications?
It is possible for TE do manufacture a non-magnetic load cell version of the FX29. While it is currently a non-standard option, we may consider it as a standard offering in the future.
- Is a hard mechanical stop option available?
A hard mechanical stop is not offered in this model as the design is significantly different. This feature is more important in the low force range sensor, and, FS19 has this design (10.5 mm diameter, as custom right now).
- Does this have a weather-proof option?
A weather-proof rating of the FX29 is not standard, but it is possible with some design updates.
- Is there an EMC rating for the amplified and digital outputs?
There is no room to fit an EMC circuit inside the load cell. The EMC rating only applies to the millivolt (mV) output.
