Overview

Our Raychem IXSU Heat Shrink Terminations have a specifically formulated electrical stress control compound that is based on extensive experience with Raychem ceramic semiconductor technology. The ZnO-based stress control system is integrated into heat-shrinkable insulating tubing. During heating, the tubing shrinks to the original smaller extruded diameter, fitting tightly over a wide range of cable sizes and profiles. This stress control system fills any irregularities, bonds to the insulation and provides high electrical performance. The heat shrink terminations are sold in kits and can be used with mechanical and compression lugs suitable for both copper and aluminum conductors.

These heat shrink termination kits are perfectly suited for both indoor (IXSU) and outdoor (OXSU) applications for 1-core or 3-core polymeric cables thus guaranteeing the maximum mechanical protection for indoor applications cable connections.

Answer: The IXSU kit contains a single piece anti-tracking termination sleeve with built-in stress grading layer, along with stress control and moisture sealing mastics. For required voltage levels and applications, heat shrink skirts are also supplied in the kit.

 

Question: How many phases will a standard Heat Shrink Terminations kits cater for?

Answer: The standard kits will include materials sufficient to terminate 3 single phases or 1 three phase cable.

 

Question: What type of cable lugs can be used with the IXSU terminations?

Answer: The termination kits are compatible with both compression and mechanical type lugs.
