Solar IPC Assemblies provide plug-and-play feature for fast, easy-to-install, and reliable connections certified to the highest possible standard, UL/cUL9703 and UL/cUL 486A/B.
TE Connectivity (TE) Solar IPC Assemblies SIPC come with factory-pre-installed dual or multi-tap jumpers to provide accurate tap cable alignment, allowing for a simple and secure installation process in the field. No specialized skill is required to install the connector.
Designed to accommodate a trunk bus range of 250–1000 Kcmil, it allows for larger array groups with fewer disconnects, resulting in significant savings in material and labor costs. These SIPC assemblies have been built from the ground up on a foundation of field-proven, highly engineered materials and components specifically for solar farms to withstand harsh environmental conditions. They are robust enough to last for the lifetime of the system.
To prevent unsafe connections before energization and protect the PV connectors from harsh environments, our SIPC assemblies are pre-installed with our SAFE-TE connectors. They are UV-resistant, IP-68-rated, and re-usable.
Our Solar IPC Assemblies SIPC are designed to offer protection, insulation, and high-quality sealing for fast, easy, and safe cable connection of PV cables, which are available in UL/cUL standards. The robust design, specifically for solar EBOS applications, offers secure, simple, and reliable connections. Watch our video to see how to install our SIPC connectors.
Question: Are licensed electricians required to install the Solar IPC Assemblies SIPC?
Answer: No, the only requirement is following the Product Installation Instructions (PII) provided with each shipment. It has been designed to be as easy for installers as possible.
Question: Is there any maintenance required after the SIPC assemblies are installed?
Answer: No, there is no maintenance required after installation.
Question: Is there a QA/QC process recommendation during installation?
Answer: TE does not have a QA/QC process recommendation. However, the most common procedure with our customers is to first install the SIPC assemblies without connecting the tap cables to the harnesses and then have the QA/QC team check the shear nut before installing the top cover.
Question: If an SIPC is installed in the wrong location, what is the most efficient way to remediate the issue?
Answer: TE recommends abandoning the SIPC in place, ensuring the SAFE-TE caps are installed on the ends of the tap cables, and installing a new SIPC in the correct location. Our SIPC assemblies are invisible to the circuit with the SAFE-TE connectors on the end of the tap cables, therefore there is minimal impact on the system if installed in the incorrect location.
Question: Do our SIPC assemblies require an immaculately clean environment for installation?
Answer: No, our SIPC assemblies do not require an immaculately clean environment. Wipe down the cable to prevent unwanted debris, then install as directed in the Product Installation Instructions (PII).
Question: Is our SIPC connection less reliable in wet conditions?
Answer: TE conducts hi-pot testing on each SIPC connector individually before shipping to customers. The distance between the connection and external water mustn't indicate the presence of water in the connection, so there is no risk of oxidation when using our SIPC.
Question: Are our SIPC assemblies tested at a UL lab?
Answer: Yes, they are tested and certified in a UL laboratory to the UL 9703 and UL 486A/B standards.
Question: Are our SIPC assemblies suitable for projects with more than one-panel type?
Answer: Yes, absolutely! The SIPC-1000 is the perfect solution for managing different panel types due to its impressive flexibility. Since our SIPC assemblies have real-time configurability, it allows the same connector to be utilized throughout the entire site which streamlines construction, reduces errors and minimizes labor costs. However, having a prefabricated product would present logistical challenges due to the limited flexibility and numerous Part Nos. which could lead to costly mistakes and delays.
