Pre-Insulated Terminals and Splices for Efficient Termination

Pre-insulated PLASTI-GRIP solderless terminals and splices are designed to provide cost-effective, insulated electrical terminations. They feature a high-conductivity copper body and color-coded PVC insulation, making them suitable for a wide range of commercial applications. Engineered Application Tooling is specifically designed to ensure quick and efficient installation. The wire and wire barrel form a strong, high-conductivity connection with excellent tensile strength, while tin plating enhances corrosion resistance. With their quality, performance, and ease of installation, PLASTI-GRIP terminals are ideal for various industrial applications. Most products are UL and CSA approved and are available in multiple tongue styles, stud sizes, and wire ranges from 22 AWG to 2/0.

Efficient Termination

TE's PLASTI-GRIP application tooling has been developed to ensure uniform high quality terminations. Tool and terminal have been designed together to promote ease and speed of application while providing precise crimping pressure for every wire size. PLASTI-GRIP is available in ring, spade, flanged, spaded, and slotted tongue terminals, as well as parallel and butt splices.

There are few things in the world of electrical assembly that appear more straightforward than crimping wires to terminals. A crimping tool compresses the wire barrel tightly around the strands of the stripped wire, forming one homogeneous metal. Its simplicity is why the solder-less terminal remains one of the most popular connectors on the market for more than seventy years. Download this white paper to learn more.

Frequently Asked Questions

PLASTI-GRIP terminals and splices

Q: Can wires be combined in PLASTI-GRIP terminals?

A: Yes they can, as long total CMA and insulation diameter fall within specification.

Q: Are TE PLASTI-GRIP terminals MIL specified?

A: No, PLASTI-GRIP terminals are not Military qualified; Most PIDG and SOLISTRAND terminals are qualified to SAE AS7928.

Q: What terminal should be used in applications above above 105 Celsius?

A: Use STRATO-THERM terminals (catalog 82011).

Q: Why can PLASTI-GRIP terminals handle 600V and PIDG terminals just 300V?

A: There is no additional metallic sleeve to support the crimp.

Q: Why is there no crimp height given for PLASTI-GRIP terminals?

A: It is the geometry of the TE crimping tools which guarantees the perfect crimp on PLASTI-GRIP terminals
