Battery Interconnects for Mobile Devices
Our mobile battery interconnects include low profile battery connectors, leaf battery connectors, and floating battery interconnection systems (FBIS II). These mobile battery connectors are used in mobile phones with removable batteries—high design flexibility allows it to be scaled up or down regardless of positions, working height, or contact pitch. This connector series improves cost effectiveness for customers by reducing the number of components needed and the size of the tooling platform.
The circular I/O connector is a reliable connector characterized by easy handling. There is no need to orientate the connector, as its circular shape naturally provides a blind mating capability. Circular I/O connectors are found in a large variety of mobile devices, such as mobile phones, media players, tablets, laptops, and cameras. The connectors allow for video and audio transmission or supply DC power to the device. TE offers several circular I/O connectors for A/V and DC applications in several mounting styles.
Battery Interconnects for Laptops and Ultraportable Devices
Our battery interconnects for PCs come with five-position headers and our five-position receptacle connectors easily mate and unmate. These laptop battery connectors have single contacts that are rated at seven amperes with a 30°C rise time, and have an operating temperature rating of -30°C to +70°C. Headers feature sturdy brass contacts with duplex plated tin or tin-lead solder tails and nickel on the mating area. These features ensure the life of the system and provide high cycle mating/unmating of interconnects. Housings are made of high temperature, UL 94V-0 rated thermoplastic and are available with left- or right-hand keying, or with keyless mounting configurations.
Multi-Direction Interconnection (MDI) System

The MDI system answers the need for a high density and versatile interconnections system to support the rapid growth of the portable equipment market. The MDI system consists of six-position receptacles and headers featuring contacts on a 2.0mm centerline. This system is designed to permit mating and unmating at any angle between 0° and 90°.

This durable MDI system features plated contacts for positive mating and unmating up to 2500 cycles. Housings are compatible with infrared and reflow solder techniques. The multi-directional aspect and durability of this system make it ideal for docking connector applications in a variety of portable hand-held devices, measurement equipment, documentation control, and interconnections for rechargeable batteries used in laptop and notebook type computers.
Floating Battery Interconnection Systems (FBIS)
Floating Battery Interconnection Systems (FBIS) is designed to meet higher requirements for mobile devices. With its featured clinch type connector configuration, it provides a more reliable mating connector. It can sustain a more severe drop environment. It can also prevent electrical discontinuity at physical shock and vibration.
