Expanding Fiber Optics to New Levels
Our cable assemblies for MXC fiber optic connectors exceed the need for faster speed and higher density for next generation communications systems.
MXC fiber optic connectors and cable assemblies allow up to 64 fibers per ferrule and speeds up to 1.6 terabits per second (Tbps) for next generation communications systems. MXC connectors and assemblies offer an expanded beam lens design overcoming many of the challenges of conventional physical contact products to provide higher immunity to contaminants and make connections more reliable and installation easier. MXC connectors and cable assemblies use optical interconnect technology adopted by the open compute consortium and target hyperscale data centers and disaggregation solutions by providing best-in-class density and ease of use in an optical connector. Furthermore, cable assemblies with MXC connectors can be used in standard jumper cable applications or paired with TE’s Coolbit optical engines. We can provide a variety of cable assembly configurations to meet your design requirements.

Key Features and Benefits
Faster Speeds and Higher Density
- High Density: Up to 64 fibers in a single cable assembly provides 33% higher density over comparable 48-fiber MPO cable assemblies
- Space Saving: Connector offers reduced faceplate density to save space in your application
- Fast: Interconnect can provide up to 1.6 Tbps of capacity from a single connection at 25G line speeds
More Reliable Connections
- Robust: Expanded beam lens design provides higher immunity to dust and dirt contamination and provides a higher alignment tolerance than standard ferrule connectors
- Safeguarded: Recessed ferrules provide protection from potential damage during handling and mating and also aide in protection from contaminants
Easier Installation and Lower Operational Costs
- Simple LC-style latch makes for easy insertion and removal
- Recessed ferrule design lends itself to lower mating forces
- Ferrule’s immunity to dust and dirt requires little to no cleaning of the lens before installation, for faster data center start-up
Variety of Options to Meet Design Requirements
- Choose cables assemblies for MXC connectors using OM2, OM3, and OM4 fiber types, based on your application requirements
- Request MXC-to-MPO, MXC-to-LC and other breakout configurations, based on your system design
- Use standard jumper cable applications or pair with TE’s Coolbit optical engines
