Our Raychem HVLB-SICO High Voltage Link Box provides a sealed and dry environment for the connecting links used for earthing or cross-bonding of the metallic sheaths of high voltage single core cables.
Our Raychem HVLB-SICO High Voltage Link Box for single-core cables are used for earthing and bonding cable sheaths of cables so that the induced voltages and circulating currents are eliminated or reduced. Single-core cables in operation carry alternating currents and induced voltages in the metalic sheath of the cable. Depending on the sheath bonding, these currents may lead to circulating currents flowing in the cable sheath, which reduces the transmission capacity of the cable and causes additional heating.
The High Voltage Link Boxes are made of stainless steel they have a reliable gasket-lid-system for easy cable sheath inspections and which is tight against water and dust. The lid system is equipped with a proof device for padlocks to prevent unauthorized access. The link boxes ensure a homogeneous distance between the electrical path, trustworthy electrical connections and a specially developed short-circuit-yoke, allowing a better impulse-voltage and short-circuit withstand. For safety in an unexpected case, our box is tested to absorb the power of an internal arc with 25 kA for 0.1 sec.
The High Voltage Link Boxes for single-core cables are available in a different design. Within the HVLB-SICO-SVL link box, the cable sheath is earthed via a sheath voltage limiter. The HVLB-SICO-GND link box is used to earth the cable sheath direct to the ground without a sheath voltage limiter. Within the HVLB-SICO-CRO link box, the cable sheaths are cross bonded.
