Durable, Weatherproof, Long Lasting ANSI/NEMA Shorting and Open Caps For Street Lighting

Shorting and open caps are devices that close, or open, the primary electrical circuit that runs across an ANSI C136.10 compliant twist lock receptacle in an outdoor luminaire. The shorting cap provides a closed circuit when a photo control is not installed, keeping lights continually on for safety. An open cap disconnects service when lighting is no longer needed. Our ANSI compliant LUMAWISE ALR series and Endurance N family of products provide a safe, convenient, and economical method to close or open the primary circuit path across a NEMA compliant receptacle. These devices are UL listed, durable and weatherproof, fully suited for an outdoor environment 365 days of the year.

LUMAWISE Endurance N+ Shorting Caps

Introducing the ANSI C136.10 compliant low-profile LUMAWISE Endurance N+ shorting and open caps with an integral seal gasket that provides IP66 sealed protection to receptacles on roadway, street, and area lighting luminaires before the installation of a network lighting control or when one is not required. Shorting caps are also used to designate luminaires for maintenance and to keep lights on continuously for safety. Open caps are used to temporarily disconnect service from individual luminaires while others remain energized on the same circuit.

LUMAWISE Endurance N Shorting Caps

The LUMAWISE Endurance N shorting caps provide a safe, convenient and economical method to close or open the primary circuit path across a NEMA compliant receptacle on an outdoor light. The LUMAWISE Endurance N caps are ANSI Compliant and UL Listed. They offer an IP66 rating for outdoor harsh environments. LUMAWISE Endurance N caps are used to disconnect service (Open Cap) or to provide continual power from the pole to the luminaire (Shorting Cap). A shorting cap with an integrated Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV) provides surge protection for LED luminaires that are required to be on continuously.

LUMAWISE ALR Shorting and Open Caps

LUMAWISE ALR Series are shorting and open caps provide IP54 sealed protection to roadway, street, and area lighting luminaires. Shorting caps are commonly used to protect NEMA twist lock receptacles on outdoor luminaires before installing a discrete or network lighting control. Other uses include designating lighting fixtures for maintenance, keeping lights on continually for safety or using an open cap to disconnect service. The ALR-MC-10 shorting cap with an integrated 545 Joule Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV) protects against transient line surges for LED luminaires.
