TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity and sensor solutions, today announced the new EVC 175 Main Contactor (EVC 175) for hybrid and electric vehicles, expanding TE's portfolio of contactors specifically designed to handle the high-voltage requirements of hybrid, electric and fuel cell vehicles, as well as vehicle charging systems.
Based on TE's proven EVC 250 contactor technology, the new contactor has a continuous current of 175A and a short circuit current capability of 5kA, meeting medium power performance requirements. This high voltage contactor does not require inert gas filling or hermetic sealing of the contact chamber , ensuring safe disconnection for overcurrents up to 2,000A at altitudes of 5,500m above sea level.
With overall dimensions of just 70.3 x 50.9 x 34.3 mm, the EVC 175 contactor is ideal for tight space mounting applications and is also available with an option for a mounting flange. In addition to the standard version with separate coil for pull-in and hold with an automatic internal switch, there is also a single coil version for external economical use. The EVC 175 main contactor also meets IEC 60664 insulation requirements.
